Submission Guide

How to submit a merged PDF
on every major LMS

Every platform has a slightly different flow. Here is exactly where to click after you have merged your homework into one PDF.

Canvas
Most common at US colleges
  • Open your course → Assignments → click the assignment name
  • Click Submit Assignment (top right)
  • Select the File Upload tab → Choose File → select your merged PDF
  • Click Submit Assignment to confirm
  • Check your email — Canvas sends a submission confirmation automatically
⚠️ Late submissions show a yellow dot. Canvas notifies instructors immediately — submitting on time matters.
Blackboard
Original & Ultra views
  • Original: My Courses → Assignment → Browse Local Files → attach PDF → Submit
  • Ultra: Assessments → Assignment → click + → Upload from Computer
  • If SafeAssign is enabled, your PDF goes to plagiarism checking automatically
  • Wait for the "Submission Complete" confirmation screen before closing
⚠️ Blackboard does not email confirmations by default — screenshot the confirmation page.
Google Classroom
K-12 & university
  • Open the assignment → click Add or create
  • Select File → Upload from device → choose your merged PDF
  • Click Turn In → confirm in the dialog
  • Status changes to "Turned in" — you will see this on the assignment card
  • To fix a mistake: click Unsubmit (available until instructor marks as graded)
⚠️ Unsubmitting resets your submission status. Resubmit before the deadline or contact your instructor.
Moodle
Common internationally
  • Course → Assignment activity → click Add submission
  • Drag your merged PDF into the upload area, or click the file icon to browse
  • Click Save changes — status must say "Submitted for grading"
  • "Draft (not submitted)" means your instructor cannot see it yet — click Submit
⚠️ The draft vs. submitted state trips up many students — always confirm status before leaving.
Turnitin (direct)
Via Turnitin.com portal
  • Log in at turnitin.com → Class → Assignment → Submit
  • Select Single File Upload → Browse → select your merged PDF
  • Enter author name and submission title → Upload
  • Review the preview — confirm text is selectable (not images)
  • Click Confirm — similarity report generates within 15 minutes
⚠️ Resubmissions to Turnitin take 24 hours to regenerate a new similarity report — plan ahead.
Schoology
K-12 focused
  • Course → Materials → Assignment → click Submit Assignment
  • Select Upload → choose your merged PDF from device
  • Click Submit to finalize
  • Submission confirmation shows in the assignment card
⚠️ Schoology limits vary by school district — check with your teacher if uploads are rejected.

Turnitin & SafeAssign:
what merged PDFs require

Merging homework into a PDF is safe for plagiarism checkers — as long as the PDF contains selectable text rather than scanned images only. Here is what each tool needs.

Tool PDF Requirements Max File Size Report Time
Turnitin
Accepts PDF with selectable text. Image-only PDFs accepted but generate no similarity score (0% — text not extractable). Max 400 pages per file.
100 MB
~15 min (first sub); 24 hrs (resubmit)
SafeAssign (Blackboard)
Accepts PDF — analyzes selectable text. Merged PDFs work fine if each source file had selectable text before merging.
~10 MB (institution-set)
Minutes to hours
Unicheck
PDF fully supported. Merged PDFs work the same as single-source PDFs — no difference in analysis.
100 MB
~5 min
iThenticate
Primarily instructor/institution-facing. PDF accepted. Used for dissertations and journal submissions rather than coursework.
100 MB
Within 1 hour
Copyleaks
Accepts PDF, DOC, HTML, and more. Selectable text required for comparison. Scanned-image PDFs flagged as unsupported format.
50 MB
Seconds to minutes

✅ RapidTools merges PDFs without converting text to images — your selectable text is preserved exactly as it appeared in the original files. Typed essays, problem sets, and formatted documents all remain fully readable by plagiarism checkers after merging.

FAQ

Common questions from
students about merging homework

Quick answers so you can get back to studying.

Add your assignment PDFs using the tool on this page, drag them into the correct order, then click Merge Homework. Your combined PDF downloads instantly — no account, no software, no waiting. The whole process takes under 30 seconds.
Yes. Canvas accepts PDF file uploads for assignment submissions. Merging your multiple assignment files into one PDF before uploading to Canvas ensures everything is submitted together and prevents parts of your assignment from being missed by your instructor.
Yes. Google Classroom accepts PDF uploads for assignment submissions. Merging your homework into one PDF is often cleaner than uploading multiple files, and ensures your instructor receives everything in the correct order.
Yes. RapidTools works on any device with a browser — iPhone, Android, iPad, Chromebook, laptop, or desktop. No app download needed. It also works offline once the page loads, so you can use it in the library, a dorm room, or anywhere without reliable WiFi.
RapidTools has no file size limit — merge as many pages as you need. However, your school's learning management system may have upload limits (Canvas typically allows up to 500MB per file, Google Classroom up to 2GB). If your merged PDF is too large, use our companion Compress PDF tool to reduce the file size.
Most instructors prefer a clear naming format like: LastName_FirstName_AssignmentName.pdf (e.g., Smith_John_Lab3Report.pdf). Avoid generic names like 'merged.pdf' which make it harder for instructors to identify your work, especially in large classes.
Yes — Turnitin accepts merged PDFs up to 100MB and 400 pages. The key requirement is that the PDF must contain selectable text, not just scanned images. If you merge typed assignments, essays, or problem sets, Turnitin will analyze them normally. If you merge scanned handwritten pages, Turnitin accepts the file but cannot extract text for comparison — it will show 0% similarity, which is expected and not penalized. RapidTools preserves selectable text when merging, so typed content remains fully readable by Turnitin after the merge.
After merging: open your Canvas course → click Assignments → open the assignment → click Submit Assignment (top right) → select the File Upload tab → Choose File → select your merged PDF → click Submit Assignment to confirm. Canvas sends an email confirmation automatically. Late submissions show a yellow dot next to the submission, which notifies your instructor — so submit before the deadline. Canvas allows up to 500MB per file.
It depends on the platform. Canvas: click the assignment → Submission Details → Re-submit Assignment — allowed until the instructor locks submissions. Google Classroom: click Unsubmit on the assignment card → upload the correct PDF → Turn In again. Blackboard: depends on instructor settings — some assignments allow resubmission, others lock after first submission. Turnitin: you can resubmit, but the new similarity report takes 24 hours to generate. Moodle: click Edit Submission if the assignment allows it — otherwise contact your instructor.
