SAVE Plan Update

Switching out of SAVE:
documents to gather

The SAVE plan has ended. On March 10, 2026, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit vacated it, and it is not available to new borrowers. Starting July 1, 2026, loan servicers began sending notices to borrowers enrolled in SAVE. Each borrower has at least 90 days from their own notice to choose a new repayment plan, and borrowers who do not choose may be placed in a plan by their servicer. Gather these documents and merge them into one PDF before you decide.

#DocumentWhy
1

Your servicer’s SAVE notice

The notice your loan servicer sent you, including the deadline to choose a new repayment plan.

Deadline
2

Recent income proof

Your most recent tax return or recent pay stubs.

Income
3

PSLF employment certification forms

If you work in public service, include your Public Service Loan Forgiveness employment certification forms.

Forgiveness

Confirm your options at studentaid.gov and with your loan servicer before you choose a plan.

Repayment Plans

Federal repayment plans
compared side by side

Plan enrollment requires submitting documentation, often including proof of income. Keeping your application, income records, and confirmation in one PDF gives you a clean record whenever your servicer asks for it.

Why Privacy Matters Here

Student loan documents contain sensitive financial data

Social Security numbers. Bank account details. Income information. Employer details. Loan account numbers. Student loan documents are a goldmine for identity thieves — and uploading them to a cloud PDF tool means all of that sits on a third-party server.

FAQ

Common questions about
student loan documents

Quick answers for students and graduates.

Add your student loan PDFs using the tool on this page, arrange them in order, then click Merge Student Loan Documents. Your combined PDF downloads instantly — no account or software needed.
You can merge any student loan PDF: FAFSA confirmation, financial aid award letters, Master Promissory Notes (MPN), loan disclosure statements, entrance counseling completion certificates, repayment plan documents, IBR or PSLF applications, correspondence from your servicer, and tax forms like 1098-E.
With RapidTools, yes — because your files never leave your browser. Social Security numbers, financial aid details, and loan account information are processed entirely in your browser with no data sent to our servers.
Yes. Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) and income-driven repayment (IDR) applications often require supporting documentation. Merging your employment certification forms, payment history, and servicer correspondence into one organized PDF makes submission easier and gives you a complete record.
Yes. This tool works with documents from any student loan provider — federal loans (FAFSA, Direct Loans, Grad PLUS) and private lenders (Sallie Mae, Earnest, SoFi, etc.). Any PDF document can be merged.
The SAVE plan has ended. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit vacated it on March 10, 2026, and it is not available to new borrowers. Starting July 1, 2026, servicers began sending notices to borrowers enrolled in SAVE, and each borrower has at least 90 days from their own notice to choose a new plan. Borrowers who do not choose may be placed in a plan by their servicer. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act created two new plans effective July 1, 2026: the Tiered Standard Repayment Plan and the Repayment Assistance Plan (RAP). The Tiered Standard Repayment Plan does not count toward loan forgiveness, including Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF). The same law ends the PAYE and ICR plans by July 1, 2028. Confirm your options at studentaid.gov and with your loan servicer.
The process varies by servicer: MOHELA (mohela.com) — log in → My Loans → Account Documents; PSLF tracker is on the dashboard. Aidvantage (aidvantage.com) — My Account → Documents & Statements; 1098-E under Tax Information. Nelnet (nelnet.com) — Account → Documents; payment history under Make a Payment → Payment History. EdFinancial (edfinancial.com) — My Account → Document Center. For a complete federal loan history regardless of servicer, log in at studentaid.gov → My Aid → Download My Aid Data — this master record covers all federal loans ever issued to you.
Servicer transfers are common — Navient transferred to Aidvantage, Great Lakes moved to Nelnet, and FedLoan (PHEAA) transferred to MOHELA, Aidvantage, Nelnet, and EdFinancial. During a transfer your payment history carries over, but servicer interfaces differ and document availability varies. Best practice: download your complete payment history, all annual statements, and your PSLF tracker from the current servicer before the transfer date listed in your notice. Merge them into one PDF immediately — after the transfer completes you may lose direct access to the old servicer portal within 90 days.
