RapidTools takes a different approach to privacy. Most online tools upload your files to their servers for processing. We believe your documents are yours alone, and they should never leave your device unless you choose to send them somewhere.
Every tool and calculator on RapidTools processes your files and inputs entirely in your browser.
What this means for you:
Please note: while your files stay private, our website does use analytics and advertising cookies, as explained in Sections 3 and 4.
When you use any RapidTools tool (PDF merger, compressor, converter, and others) or calculator:
We use established open-source libraries such as pdf-lib, pdf.js, and JSZip, along with built-in browser features, to work with files entirely inside your browser. Your files are read into browser memory, processed, and written back to browser memory before download. At no point are they sent to our servers or any outside service.
| Feature | RapidTools (In Your Browser) | Traditional Tools (On a Server) |
|---|---|---|
| File upload required | No upload | Upload required |
| Files stored on servers | Never stored | Often stored, at least temporarily |
| Staff can view files | No access to your files | Possible |
| Third-party access to files | No upload, so no upload risk | Possible |
| Exposure in a data breach | No files on our servers to expose | Possible |
| Works offline | Yes, after the page loads | No |
| Processing speed | Fast, using your own device | Depends on server load |
Real-World Impact
Because your files are processed on your device, RapidTools is well suited to confidential documents, including:
You can work with sensitive files knowing they stay on your device.
The following is never collected, stored, or sent to us when you use RapidTools:
We collect limited information to understand how our website is used, and our advertising partners collect information to show ads that keep RapidTools free:
Important: This data does not identify you by name, and none of it includes your files or their contents. However, some of it, such as cookie identifiers and IP addresses, may be treated as personal information under privacy laws like the GDPR.
We use Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google LLC, to understand how visitors use our website.
You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, blocking cookies in your browser settings, or using a browser privacy extension that blocks analytics scripts.
We also use Ahrefs Web Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics service provided by Ahrefs Pte. Ltd., to measure website traffic. It collects basic information such as pages visited, referring websites, browser type, device type, and country. It does not see your files.
To keep RapidTools free, we show advertisements on our website.
You can opt out of personalized advertising from Google by visiting Google Ads Settings at https://adssettings.google.com. You can also opt out of personalized advertising from many other third-party vendors by visiting https://optout.aboutads.info. If you opt out, you may still see ads, but they will not be based on your browsing history.
For more information on how Google uses data from websites that use its services, please see https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. RapidTools uses:
Our PDF and image tools do not need cookies to work. You can block all cookies in your browser settings, and the tools will still work normally.
Local Storage is a browser feature that lets a website save small amounts of information directly in your browser.
You can clear Local Storage at any time through your browser settings:
Note on File Processing
When you process files with RapidTools, your files are loaded into your browser's temporary memory, not into Local Storage or cookies. That memory is cleared when you close the tab or leave the page. Your files are never permanently stored.
RapidTools uses the following third-party services:
RapidTools may link to outside websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies before sharing any personal information with them.
RapidTools is served over HTTPS. This means the connection between your browser and our website is encrypted, other people on your network cannot read the pages you load, and your browser can confirm it is talking to the real RapidTools website.
Because your files are processed in your browser, they are protected by your browser's built-in safety features, including sandboxing (which keeps web pages separate from the rest of your computer) and the same-origin policy (which stops other websites from reading data on our pages).
RapidTools does not have user accounts. This means there are no passwords to steal and no user database that could be breached.
Best Practice Recommendation: For extra privacy with highly sensitive documents, you can use RapidTools in a private or incognito browser window. This makes sure no cookies, cache, or browsing history are kept after you close the window.
Very little. We never have your files, and we do not have accounts. The main data connected to your visit is analytics and advertising data, which does not identify you by name, and any message you choose to send us.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
RapidTools is intended for users aged 13 and older (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction), as set out in our Terms of Use. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under this age.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
RapidTools is available worldwide. Because your files never leave your device, your files are never transferred across borders.
Analytics and advertising data may be processed by our service providers, such as Google, on servers located in other countries, including the United States. Please see Google's Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy for details.
We collect only the data needed to run and fund the website. Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent before personalized advertising cookies are used, through a consent message shown when you visit. You can change your choice at any time.
We follow Canadian privacy principles, including limited collection, openness about our practices, and safeguards to protect information. By using the website, you consent to the analytics and advertising described in this policy, and you can opt out as explained in Section 7.
We do not sell your files, your contact details, or your name. However, sharing cookie data with advertising partners to show personalized ads may be treated as "selling" or "sharing" personal information under California law. You can opt out of this by visiting https://adssettings.google.com or https://optout.aboutads.info, or by blocking third-party cookies in your browser.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services, the technology we use, or legal requirements. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes may also be announced on our homepage. Your continued use of RapidTools after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
If you have questions, concerns, or requests about this Privacy Policy or our privacy practices, please contact us:

Response time: We aim to respond to privacy questions within 2 to 3 business days.
When you contact us about a privacy matter, please include a clear description of your question, the tool or page you are asking about (if any), and your location if you are exercising a legal right.
RapidTools was built on a simple principle: your files are yours, and they should stay that way.
We chose to process files in your browser instead of on our servers because it keeps your documents private. We cannot see your files, we cannot accidentally leak them, and we cannot be forced to hand them over to anyone, because we never have them.
This is privacy by design, not just privacy by policy, and we are committed to keeping it that way.
