⚠️  Always use a copy of your document, never the original. Keep your original file safe.

Method 1: Preview — Export as PDF (Fastest)

Preview is built into every Mac and converts a JPG to PDF in three clicks. No download, no Adobe, no account.

  1. Double-click the JPG to open it. If it opens in a different app, right-click → Open With → Preview.
  2. Go to File → Export as PDF. (Use "Export as PDF" — not plain "Export", which shows different format options.)
  3. Name the file, choose a save location, and click Save.

The PDF is created at the original image resolution. No quality loss, no compression applied. Works on macOS Ventura, Sonoma, Sequoia, and older versions.

Keyboard shortcut: With the JPG open in Preview, press Cmd+Shift+S to open the Export As dialog quickly, then type ".pdf" to switch format if needed. Or just use File → Export as PDF — it is two clicks.

Method 2: Multiple JPGs into One PDF Using Preview

This is Preview's most useful feature for images — combining several photos into a single multi-page PDF without any extra software.

  1. In Finder, select all the JPGs you want to combine. Click the first, then hold Cmd and click the rest. Or press Cmd+A if they are all in one folder.
  2. Right-click the selection → Open With → Preview. All images open in one Preview window.
  3. The thumbnail sidebar on the left shows each image as a page. Drag thumbnails to reorder — the top image becomes page 1.
  4. Go to File → Export as PDF. All images are saved into a single PDF, one image per page.
Adding more images later: With the multi-image PDF open in Preview, drag more images from Finder directly into the thumbnail sidebar to insert them as new pages. Then File → Export as PDF again.

Method 3: Print to PDF

The Print to PDF route works from almost any app on Mac — Preview, Photos, Safari, or a third-party viewer. It is a useful fallback when Export as PDF is not available.

  1. Open the JPG in any app (Preview works best for accurate sizing).
  2. Press Cmd+P to open the print dialog.
  3. In the bottom-left of the print dialog, click the PDF dropdown → Save as PDF.
  4. Name the file and click Save.

The Print to PDF method can produce slightly larger files than Export as PDF because it passes the image through macOS's printing pipeline. For most purposes the difference is negligible — both preserve full image quality.

Method 4: Browser Tool (Best for Multiple Images or Any Device)

If you need to combine images from different sources, or want a tool that works the same on Mac, iPhone, and Windows, the browser method is the most flexible free option.

  1. Open Safari or Chrome and go to rapidtools.online/image-to-pdf.
  2. Upload one or multiple JPGs — drag them in or click to browse.⚠️  Always use a copy of your document, never the original. Keep your original file safe.
  3. Drag to reorder if needed, then click Convert to PDF.
  4. Click Download. The PDF saves to your Downloads folder.

Processing runs entirely in your browser via WebAssembly — your images are never uploaded to any server. No account, no watermark.
